According to the Law Department of Huawei technology
Ltd., Huawei has been the most active company to file patents in
China in recent years. In 2007, more than 5,500 patents were applied
in domestic. Accumulatively, total 26,800 patents were filed both
in domestic and overseas, among which 4256 patents were approved
in China with 90% being invention patents. Huawei filed PCT3268
patents in 2007. According to WIPO (World Intellectual Property
Organization), Huawei ranked No. 4 in PCT international patent applications.
In WCDMA standard Huawei is No. 5 for its 133 basic patents declared
in WCDMA. |
Motorola: Roll Out TD-SCDMA Products in June

It is reported that Motorola will release 7 high-end products
in next three months, in which 3 are PDA products directed for
Chinese market demand. Its TD product will be available in market
by the end of June. Motorola believes that the Chinese market
is and the largest country market without doubt where users are
used to owe multiple handsets and to chase new fashion handsets.
The upside potential of this market is still huge. For instance,
3G influence has not manifested to Chinese market. Motorola can
not afford to fail in the Chinese market, because it is the key
to Motorola¡¯s success in the global market

UT- Starcom increased the first quarter expectation

May 7 news, UT-Starcom (Nasdaq: UTSI) today re-issued as of March
31 of 2008 its first quarter financial expectations, exceeding
the previously announced expectations. Revenue will increase mainly
because of the strong performance in company¡¯s personal communications
department and other core business sectors. UT-Starcom said that
the cash flow is strong due to the investment income of 49M USD
from selling the Gemdale Corporation and 9M USD tax benefit in
China.

Reorganization will definitely happen, and the results of the
commercial trial will decide the next step for TD.
China is of core intellectual property rights in TD-SCDMA. We
have built the network in 8 cities, i.e. Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin,
Shenyang,Qin huangdao,Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen. Network optimization
is on going. In a short span of time over 300 days we had installed
as many base stations as we did for GSM in the same areas for
the past 10 years. The commercial trial started on April 1st,
and we have to wait for the commercial test results before deciding
the next step. |

In the Mobile TV supply chain, radio, television and telecommunications
are integral parts. Cooperation is the only way to achieve win-win.
Without the support of mobile carriers and relative government ministries,
mobile TV can only be called MP3 TV or MP4 TV. It would be impossible
to achieve video-on-demand paid services. Meantime, without approval
of radio and television ministries, telecom carriers cannot do much
