Li Yizhong, Minister of MIIT Visited Datang
Li Yizhong, Minister of Ministry of Industry and
Information Technology inspected Datang Group and brought forward
his expectations on the development of the company and TD-SCDMA
industry. Mr. Li visited the exhibition hall of Datang and tested
the TD-SCDMA video call, VOD, video surveillance, HSDPA high speed
internet access and other 3G special applications for Olympics.
Mr. Li showed great interest in video surveillance and the micro
base stations that reflects the Green Olympic spirit. He instructed
that Datang fully cooperate with the operators to ensure quality
service for the Olympic Games. |

Olympics
China Mobile rolled out the rental service of TD handsets. Samsung
L288 is avalialbe for the rental fee of 2800 RMB, Amoi T5 is 2600RMB,
Lenovo TD800 is only 1800RMB. Other TD-SCDMA mobile phone models
are TCL U398, 2200RMB, Datang TG2000, 2000RMB, Philips TM700,
1900RMB.
21 service offices of China Mobile in Beijing have launched the
TD-SCDMA rental service.

TD-SCDMA enables the mobile video surveillance
to Beijing public transportation system
TD-SCDMA enabled video surveillance system was built along those
Olympics special line by the Beijing Public Transportation Group
on 30th July. It is the first application of TD-SCDMA in monitoring
the public transportation security.
This project involves 34 Olympic lines, 28 stations scattered
in eight munucipal districts of Beijing including some suburb
areas.

CYIT was founded in February 2000. The initial and ultimate goal
is to promote the TD-SCDMA industry. In 1998, we started to worked
together with Professor Li Shihe to submit the standard proposals
to the ITU. We jointly submitted three proposals in which two
were accepted by the ITU as standards in core networks. We will
focus on the data card products before we work next step on the
TD-SCDMA handsets.

India to hold global auction for 3G spectrum

India will hold a global auction for high-speed third-generation
(3G) mobile services and have five operators initially, the telecoms
minister said on Friday.
India has 60 MHz of 3G spectrum available, and will allow both
GSM and CDMA 3G services, Andimuthu Raja told reporters.
India, which had 287 million mobile users as of end-June, saw
its mobile users base expand 25 times between 2002 and 2007 making
it the fastest-growing wireless market in the world. It is also
the world's second-biggest wireless market after China.

Singapore Telecom's Talks With Chinese Operators

Singapore Telecommunications Ltd., Southeast Asia's largest phone
company, said it was continuing talks to invest in China and was
seeking business opportunities in the Middle East.
Chua on June 17 said SingTel was in talks about a potential investment
with operators in China, the world's biggest telephone market by
users. China Telecom Corp., the nation's biggest fixed- line company,
said last month it was in talks to sell a stake to a strategic investor.
Chua also added that SingTel will continue to seek business opportunities
in the Middle East. ¡°We continue to look to see if there are significant
opportunities,'' Chua said. ¡°The learning process is still ongoing.¡± |
Motorola wins network deals worth $431m from
China Mobile

Motorola won multiple network expansion orders worth $431 million
from the world's top mobile operator, China Mobile, in the first
half of 2008, a Reuters report said.
Motorola's some of the recent wins include expansion contracts with
VNPT Group in Vietnam, Mobily in Saudi Arabia, and Celtel Nigeria
in Nigeria, the company said in a statement. |
