TD is the best choice for 3G data services

Zhou Huan, Chairman of TD-SCDMA Forum

The on-going pre-commercial trial is a break-through for China¡¯s TD-SCDMA course after tremendous efforts was put on theoretical analysis, systems simulations, product developments. Compared to other 3G standards, TD-SCDMA not only has the analogous voice capabilities, more importantly it supports high data rate services.. TD-SCDMA has obvious advantages in spectrum efficiency, system capacity, and the support for different data rate services without breathing effects. These advantages will greatly benefit the network construction, optimization and operations. TD-SCDMA will certainly become one of the 3G mainstream products. TD-SCDMA 3G is the best choice for data services.

Abstract of the opening remarks at the "TD-SCDMA Evolution and LTE Summit Shanghai 2008¡±

Adrian Scrase from 3GPP £ºIn the next 18 months, we will further optimize the standard. We believed that with such optimization, LTE will become a high standard by 3GPP, and stride forward 4G¡£
Zeng Xudong, Vice-President of Nortel: Nortel, as a part of the ecological chain for supporting TDD and LTE development, are seeking partners actively to jointly work on innovations and standards, and the lab testing for future technologies as well. We will do our part to build a telecom ¡°Great Wall¡±.

Cao Qiang Vice-President of Spreadtrum: We hope the government can introduce some policies such as allocation of spectrum as soon as possible, so the regulation can be abreast of the industrial development planning and manufacturers¡¯ product roadmap.

Asimakis Kokkos, Director of Strategy and Technology from NSN: The end-user demand is the starting point of our work. Operators will feel the pressure, and they will pass it to the manufacturers. To solve it, we should all pay attention to user requirements, and maintain a good communication.

Duan Jun, Director of Wireless Technology from Alcatel-Lucent: Next-generation wireless mobile communication systems provide a foundation for the high volume of packet data services. The market progress of LTE deployment may be faster than the progress from analog to digital, and from 2G to 3G. LTE can take full advantage of existing mature 2G and 3G Supply chain and the market.
