On Jan. 19, 2007, the 8th TD-SCDMA Forum presidium meeting
and board meeting was held successfully. Representatives from
board members of the Forum, namely China Mobile, China Telecom,
China Netcom, China Unicom, Datang, Huawei, Siemens, Nortel
Networks, Motorola, Qualcomm, Shanghai Bell Alcatel, UT Starcom,
TCL and InterDigital attended the meeting.
The presidium meeting was presided by Mr. Tang Ruan, authorized
by Mr. Zhou Huan, president of the Forum. And the board meeting
was presided by Dr. Jia Xiaojie, authorized by Dr. David Zhang
from TCL, the rotating chairman of the board.
Firstly, Dr. Jing Wang, secretary general of the TD-SCDMA Forum
reported to the presidium and the board the work of the Forum
in 2006. The work of the Forum was highly recognized by the
presidium and the board. In 2006, the Forum organized many diversified
activities. These activities facilitated the promotion of TD-SCDMA
domestically as well as overseas. The Forum¡¯s visibility and
value has also been enhanced.
In the meeting, the presidium and the board members also discussed
the strategic planning of the Forum in 2007. With the development
and expansion of the commercialization of TD-SCDMA, the focus
of the Forum in the coming year was set in the following aspects:
- further enhance international cooperation;
- facilitate TD-SCDMA technology and standard evolution;
- provide communication/information for the government, TD-SCDMA
value chain, public consumers and the investment side. At
the same time, the Forum will keep on working closely with
regulators, member companies, investors and other relevant
organization, such as TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance etc.
During the meeting, board members of the Forum highly appreciated
Dr. Jing Wang¡¯s work in his term. Based on the Forum Constitution,
board members interviewed and voted the candidates of the secretary
general for the next term. Dr. Chen Haofei was elected as the
new secretary general of the Forum. And his term begins from
Mar. 2007 and ends at Feb. 2009.
2007 will witness a great development of TD-SCDMA. We believe
in the coming year, the Forum will evolve and develop with the
development of the whole TD-SCDMA industry. With the guidance
of related regulators, the Forum will work hard to service its
members to further facilitate the TD-SCDMA industrialization,
internationalization and futurization.
