Training class on USB standard held in Shanghai

TD-SCDMA Forum

A four-day training class on USB standard was held at Merry Hotel in Shanghai during Oct. 16-19 jointly by TD-SCDMA Forum and American MCCI Company (senior member of TD-SCDMA Forum) in a bid to enhance USB development of TD-SCDMA chipmakers.

It is a great honor that we have Paul E. Berg, senior expert of MCCI and also chairman of USB-IF (USB Implementation Forum) equipment work group, as the lecturer. He gave lectures to 20-plus technical employees from TD-SCDMA chip makers who are also members of TD-SCDMA Forum, including COMMIT Incorporated, T3G Technology Co., Ltd., Datang Mobile Communications Equipment Co., Ltd., Chongqing Chongyou Information Technology Co.,Ltd and Spreadtrum Communication. The four-day program not only allowed the students to learn technical knowledge from advanced companies, but also promoted communication and cooperation among the chipmakers. It improved comprehensive level of TD-SCDMA chipmakers in R&D of USB standard as well as industrialization.

Though USB is not the most important function of handsets, users¡¯ satisfaction with it would be very important once it is embedded into the complicated products of mobile phones. If the products cannot realize mutual communication, there will arise various unexpected problems in large-scale production and after-sale service. Meanwhile, evolution and development of 3G towards technologies with higher transmission speed also impose higher demand on USB technology.

As an open and neutral international platform for communication, TD-SCDMA Forum believes that the success of TD-SCDMA industry lies in simultaneous development and improvement of the whole industrial chain. Weakness of any part of the chain may affect the progress of the whole industry at crucial moments. Therefore, one of the core tasks of TD-SCDMA Forum is to organize an interactive platform for its members through various kinds of activities following the development of TD-SCDMA. That would help to find out problems in the industrial chain and seek for the most efficient way of solving them so that TD-SCDMA could realize continuous development.

American MCCI boasts strong advantages in USB technology and it has been senior member of TD-SCDMA Forum since its establishment in 2003. The company has been keeping close watch on the progress made by TD-SCDMA Forum. Currently, MCCI is devoted to developing and providing software for mobile phone manufacturers. As TD-SCDMA is already at the final stage of industrialization and would realize commercial use soon, MCCI has showed great interest in the fast growth of TD-SCDMA and pinned great hope on the technology. TD-SCDMA Forum is willing to cooperate with MCCI and more member companies with technical strengths in TD-SCDMA and 3G to provide comprehensive services including technical training for companies in the industrial chain to jointly push forward industrialization, commercialization and internationalization of TD-SCDMA.
