TD-SCDMA Forum Interactive Seminar held in Beijing

By Leslie Cheung, TD-SCDMA Forum

On Jan 6th, 2006, TD-SCDMA Forum Interactive Seminar was held, which brought together core media and contacts from members, representing Xinhua News Agency, China News Service, Communications World, China Electronic News, New Communications, Telecommunications Technology, China Computer User, and Modern Telecommunications Technology as well as Datang Technology, Nortel, Lucent, Fujitsu, LG Electronics, T3G, China Putian and Comba Telecom.

After extending appreciation for the long-term support for TD-SCDMA Forum and briefly reviewing the work in 2005, Secretary-general Wang Jing asked representatives to voice their comments and proposals freely on the work to be done in 2006.

Afterwards, media represented in the seminar extended their thanks to the Forum publicity persons for their immense support and cooperation before sharing their comments on TD-SCDMA development in 2005 from different perspectives: 2005 is marked by rapid TD-SCDMA development, where the overall industry and public opinions were changed dramatically. The media expected the Forum to provide more networking opportunities with vendors and operators and to give them wider and more accurate information so as to better disclose true information and guide public opinions for the better development of TD-SCDMA.

Representatives of Forum members believed one of the yet-to-be-acknowledged advantages of TD-SCDMA was that the Forum had played an active role in promoting and communicating information within the industry. Over a long time, the Forum has managed to serve the businesses whole-heartedly from their position and provide a fair and just international platform to facilitate communications among the links of TD-SCDMA industrial chain. Besides, they also hoped with the development of TD-SCDMA, the Forum would grow into a just, substantial and authoritative platform offering members more rich, objective and comprehensive information.

As secretary-general Wang Jing remarked, one of the important roles of the Forum is to provide information and decision-making reference for government, operators and vendors through its efforts. The government is very interested in and supportive of the Forum, which, in turn, reports to competent MII officials on the Forum progress on a regular basis. At the moment, the Forum has gradually become a major source for TD-SCDMA information, attracting great attention from abroad. In 2006, the Forum, guided by the purpose of promoting TD-SCDMA, will focus on ¡°enhancing media communications, membership service and international expansion¡± to deliver networking and interaction opportunities for government, operators and businesses of the industrial chain on different levels and provide members with more objective information useful to their business decision-making.
