The Global Mobile Congress 2005 and B3G Annual Conference £¨GMC2005£©was
held in Chonqing on Oct. 10 -12, 2005. The organizer of this
congress is China Communications Institute (CIC) and the Institute
of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). This Congress
is hosted by Chongqing University of Post and Telecommunications
and Delson Core Technology Group of Stanford University, US
and assisted by TD-SCDMA Forum etc. Nearly 200 world-renowned
communication experts, equipment manufacturers, wireless communications
R&D personnel and scholars attended this Congress. Mr. Martin
Cooper - father of mobile phone also attended this Congress.
In-depth discussion was held on topics like TD-SCDMA and 3G
mobile communications, B3G/4G mobile communications, communications
networks for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, and the commercial
application of 3G mobile communication technologies.
As one of the co-organizer of the Congress, TD-SCDMA Forum helped
to invite more than 10 organizations to attend the Congress.
A TD-SCDMA Workshop was co-organized by TD-SCDMA Forum and the
organizing committee in the morning of Oct. 11. During the workshop,
Mr. Li Shihe chief scientist of Datang Mobile, delivered his
keynote speech first. He introduced to the audience differentiating
features of TD-SCDMA Technology. He said compared with FDD,
TDD is more suitable for the asymmetric data services. It is
more flexible and extremely suitable for multiple carrier transmission.
TD-SCDMA has clear evolution path and it well solved the problem
of high cost and low frequency utilization in 3G. It is the
best option in the future mobile communication field. Currently,
the TD-SCDMA supply chain continues to expand to include more
companies. After the MTnet testing and item specific testing
in TD industrialization trails, larger scale pre-commercial
TD test will be conducted later this year. TD-SCDMA will be
put into large-scale commercial deployment in year 2006. High-end,
middle-end and low-end handsets will also be available in the
market. Dr. Zhao Tong, general manager of Spreadtrum 3G department
delivered his speech on TD chipset solution, future plan of
chipset R&D. Prof. Zhang Ping introduced to the attendees
TD-SCDMA evolution path.
The TD Workshop on Oct. 11th was presided by Dr. Jing Wang,
secretary general of TD-SCDMA Forum. Dr. Cai Yuemin, senior
manager of Datang Mobile, Dr. Jiang Yingbo, Vice CTO of China
Putian Institute of Technology, Dr. Fang Ming, Vice General
Manager of COMMIT Inc., Prof. Zheng Jianhong from CYIT and Dr.
Qian Guoliang, Deputy Director of LG electronic R&D institute
discussed and gave their presentations on topics like the evolution
and development of TD-SCDMA standard, TD-SCDMA core technologies,
latest development in TD-SCDMA industrialization and TD-SCDMA
R&D in their organizations and etc. As a hot topic in the
communications industry, TD-SCDMA attracted wide attention from
overseas experts. They were very active in the workshop and
arouse lot of questions about TD-SCDMA.
At the end of the Congress, Prof. Zheng Jianhong from CYIT
introduced to the attendees the smallest TD-SCDMA chipset in
the world CYIT has developed recently. The size of this chipset
is only 0.13¦Ìm and its power consumption is also the lowest.
The success of developing this chipset is another breaking result
in the TD-SCDMA field and it further consolidates CYIT¡¯s position
in the TD-SCDMA industry chain.
The Congress attracted Chinese experts in the mobile communication
field from all over the world and it will further improve China¡¯s
influence in the future mobile communication market.
