On Dec 23, 2004, the 6th Presidium&Council Meeting of TD-SCDMA Forum was successfully held in Canton Mansion in Peking. The meeting was presided by Mr. Zhou Huan, chairman of TD-SCDMA Forum, and Mr. Li Wanlin, vice chairman of the Forum respectively.

First of all, Miss Fu Jun, vice secretary-general of TD-SCDMA Forum, made a summary report on the forum’s work of the whole year of 2004. The Presidium and Council affirmed the relevant work that the Forum has done in 2004 and they showed the TD-SCDMA Forum promoted the international development as well as the international effect to a certain extent. Also they showed TD-SCDMA Forum has gained progress in media construction as well as news coordination and promulgation. Whereas, there are still some problems left.

With a view to the current problems and the future planning of TD-SCDMA Forum as well as the demand of this industry, Members in Presidium and Council held a heated discussion and made a plan of strategy deployment for TD-SCDMA Forum in 2005. The plan demanded higher in many aspects, such as offering more training to employees, strengthening team cohesion, contacting more with the government, promoting the Forum’s effect, enhancing the communication and cooperation between members both upriver and downriver in TD-SCDMA industry chain, strengthening the relationship and cooperation between members overseas and international organization, making efforts to funding etc.

In 2005, as the international public platform, in spite of the confirmed work, TD-SCDMA will further develop its working scale practically. Firstly, TD-SCDMA Forum will continue to strengthen the industry chain and embody its structure in order to make every part in the chain connect well. This will do good to the further development of the industry chain and the competition as well as the cooperation. Secondly, TD-SCDMA Forum will actively provide support to testing and the commercial networks. In this way, problems will be found and solved in time. On behalf of all the member in this forum, it appeals to the government and suggests the government providing TD-SCDMA industry with more support in many aspects, such as permission to 3G license in the future, deployment structure, funds and relevant policies etc. Forum will make every effort to promote the process of commercialization of TD-SCDMA. Thirdly, TD-SCDMA will continue to propagandize and popularize itself worldwide, build oversea markets for TD-SCDMA and promote its international effect. In addition, TD-SCDMA will cooperate with the Industry Alliance and respectively develop their own advantages to promote the development of TD-SCDMA industry in a harmonious and healthy way.

Last, the Council affirmed the current preparation for the International TD-SCDMA Summit 2005 made by TD-SCDMA Forum. The Council also hoped that the Secretariats will make persistent efforts to ensure the International TD-SCDMA Summit held successfully. This Summit should be taken as a good opportunity to further develop the whole TD-SCDMA industry.
