China Mobile, the country¡®s largest mobile telecom carrier, has decided to launch its testing of the Chinese homegrown 3G standard TD-SCDMA in the eastern coastal city of Xiamen, well-informed sources with the TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance was quoted as saying.
In addition to China Mobile, other leading telecom operators in the country have almost finalized locations for the upcoming large-scale TD-SCDMA testing.
China Telecom, the nation¡®s biggest fixed-line phone carrier, has chosen Baoding in eastern China¡®s Hebei Province.
China Netcom, the second biggest after China Telecom, is said to be likely to choose Qingdao in eastern China¡®s Shandong Province.
Both the timetable and the planning for the forthcoming TD-SCDMA testing have been finished so far. Concerned telecom carriers and equipment manufacturers have also been asked to initiate deployment, added the sources.
The testing this time reportedly will impose strict limits on operation, and manufactures will not be allowed to update or change equipment when malfunction occurs during the testing.
