On June 13, 2008, LTE TDD System and Simulation training was successfully held by TD-SCDMA Forum in cooperation with Agilent in Beijing. This training was attended by technical experts from a few dozens of enterprises such as Intel, Nortel, France Telecom, Ericsson, Alcatel Shanghai Bell, MediaTek, Xilinx, Nokia-Siemens, NXP, Postel, Fiberhome and Comba.

During this training, detailed description were given with regard to the following three fields based on current LTE R&D work: LTE technology and standard development and evolution, LTE TDD system simulation and measurement, and testing solutions. Participants were expected to learn systematic LTE TDD technologies and gain a better understanding of system simulation and performance testing through this training course.

As the process of TD-SCDMA commercialization is accelerated, TD-SCDMA technical evolution and future development are drawing more attention from the industry. As the largest novel technical R&D project launched by 3GPP recently, LTE represents the major advancement of cell mobile communication technologies. In the meanwhile, as an evolution of TD, LTE TDD provides smooth transition from TD technologies to B3G systems, and also greatly enhances the compatibility between TDD and FDD systems. Integrated LTE TDD opens a door for compliance of TD-SCDMA technologies to 4G standards and allows us to stick to the development polices combining independent innovations and compatibility with international standards in the establishment of 4G standards.

Due to limited time, this training didn’t provide complete explanation for all aspects of LTE TDD technologies concerned by the industry. To meet requirements of member enterprises, TD-SCDMA Forum will hold further training series on LTE TDD technologies concerned by the industry together with communication standard research bodies, testing bodies and major LTE manufacturers.
