On the afternoon of Mar. 14th, 2008, TD-SCDMA Forum hosted
a seminar on Progress of TD-SCDMA Smart Antenna R&D. The
seminar aimed to facilitate communications of smart antenna
vendors and other related parties with telecom carriers. Issues
explored in the seminar included TD smart antenna furturization,
wideband antenna, electric adjusted antenna, smart antenna/
RU integration, research of dual-polarization antenna (TD+MIMO£©,
installation of TD smart antennas in outdoor environment etc.
More than 50 delegates from domestic and overseas telecom carriers,
smart antenna manufacturers and TD Forum member organizations
attended the seminar. Included China Mobile, China Netcom, NTTDOCOMO,
France Telecom, Comba, Hongxin, Morbi, Datang Mobile, Nokia-Siemens
Networks, Huawei Technologies, Shanghai Bell Alcatel, TD Tech,
NEC, NXP, Qualcomm, MTK, Fujitsu, T3G, Agilent, Lenovo, Desay
Group, etc.
The Seminar was chaired by Ms. Yang Yuanyi, Vice Secretary-General
of TD-SCDMA Forum. Delegates from China Mobile presented first.
He introduced latest progress of TD-SCDMA smart antenna R&D
and addressed the future trends of TD smart antenna. Later,
delegates from Datang Mobile, TD Tech, Comba and Morbi delivered
their presentations respectively on topics of development and
evolution of smart antenna, dual-polarization antenna, analysis
on unit inefficacy and optimization of compact smart antenna,
new TD smart antenna solutions, etc. The interactive communication
session was presided by Dr. Ma Xin from China Mobile R&D
institute. Issues tapped in this session were focused on dual-polarization
of TD smart antenna; wideband antenna technology, remote control
of electric adjusted antenna, how to minimize mobile communication
towers, how to improve smart antenna appearance and its impact
on smart antenna cost and functions, etc.
TD-SCDMA Forum will continue to well bridge its member organizations
with Chinese government and telecom operators. We will closely
monitor and promote any progress in our member organizations
and host different activities at different stages to facilitate
TD commercialization.
