
Recently TD-SCDMA standalone network solution has been an important
focus for TD-SCDMA industry and the public. Both ¡°Does the maturity
of TD-SCDMA technology have the ability to set up a full 3G
network independently?¡± and ¡°Are the basic technical condition
and marketing condition available for TD-SCDMA standalone network
solution?¡± have been the key factors for TD-SCDMA commercialization
and industry scale.
Aiming at above focuses, TD-SCDMA Forum held The standalone
deployment of TD-SCDMA network seminar on 25th.Jan.2005 in Beijing
Marco Polo Hotel. More than fifty delegates joined the seminar
from twenties companies including Siemens/Huawei JV (TDTECH),
Datang Mobile, Nortel Networks, ZTE, Putian Information Research
Institute, Motorola, UTStarcom, Alcatel-bell, T3G, COMMIT, CIYT
etc. This seminar was sponsored by Ms. Fujun, vice Secretary-general
from TD-SCDMA Forum.
Nortel Networks, ZTE, Putian, Siemens/Huawei JV, Datang Mobile
gave deep analysis on TD-SCDMA standalone network solution with
following presentations: ¡°Key factors for TD-SCDMA standalone
network solution¡±, ¡°Dedicated research on TD-SCDMA standalone
network solution¡±, ¡°The analysis of coverage modes in TD-SCDMA
standalone network solution¡±, ¡°Commercial solution for TD-SCDMA
standalone network solution ¡±, ¡°TD-SCDMA market development
prospect¡± etc.
Delegates summarized the key factors for TD-SCDMA standalone
network solution firstly: to realize seamless coverage; to meet
the requirement of high capacity for more subscribers; to resolve
the interference problem between two different systems; to realize
smooth handover between different technologies; to support maximum
data rate transmission etc. To promote TD-SCDMA comprehensive
competitive power, delegates emphasized that following aspects
should been strengthened: to promote TD-SCDMA specific applications;
to reinforce the QoS of applications and services; to pay attention
to the cost of TD-SCDMA buildup network; to enhance TD-SCDMA
standard architecture and technology migration etc. At the same
time, the capability of comprehensive O&M, interaction between
network planning and network optimization tools should be enhanced
to reduce the difference between simulation and real environment,
between planning network and commercial network.
Since TD-SCDMA naissance, its existence and development have
proved its inherent value to all over the world. So far, both
theory and practical testing have proved that TD-SCDMA has the
ability to build full 3G network independently. Compared with
other two 3G standards, TD-SCDMA has higher spectrum efficiency.
To support high traffic of data services, its advantages to
deal with asymmetric services efficiently can¡¯t be replaced
by any FDD technologies. Currently TD-SCDMA capacity performance
has bee accepted by the industry. It also has strong wide-coverage
capability via its unique key technologies: smart antenna and
uplink synchronization can effectively eliminate breath effect;
joint detection can reduce the Multiple Address Interference
(MAI) furthest regardless it is from intra-cell or inter-cell.
Now this technology is mature for both commercial terminal and
NodeB. The number of new subscribers will not affect the total
interference level so sharply. TD-SCDMA technical advantages
bring its specific operational advantages. It can set up the
network in different phases according to the traffic requirement
which can effectively avoid the huge investment in the initial
phase of 3G network installation. Additionally TD-SCDMA has
distinct advantages just because it started late. It has more
space for innovation than the other two 3G standards which can
benefit technology migration and convergence.
During the seminar, Putian introduced the different technologies
used when TD-SCDMA covers urban, rural and specific areas. Siemens/Huawei
JV introduced the solution of ¡°To use distributed system to
cover rural areas, highway, mountainous areas etc¡±. With detailed
instance, the reliability and maturity of TD-SCDMA technology
are showed clearly to the audiences. All the delegates agreed
that through current technology realization, TD-SCDMA can support
all 3GPP accordant services and provide operators flexible,
seamless, hierarchical solution, even to the areas that have
stricter requirement for data service. Delegates also believe
that excellent TD-SCDMA standalone network will surely be realized
with good product design, fine implementation and professional
network optimization procedures verified by real networks.
Vice-president of Datang Mobile Mr. Xie Yongbin added that
the capability to setup a TD-SCDMA standalone network solution
has been perfected since mature industry chain and multi-vendor
environment were formed in last year. The marketing advantage
is emerging day by day. TD-SCDMA standalone network solution
can support all the 3G services. While FDD needs TDD as supplementary
implies that FDD has some deficiencies to some extent. Main
R&D suppliers such as Siemens/Huawei JV expressed that dedicated
researches about TD-SCDMA standalone network solution have been
carried out from technical aspect.
After this seminar of ¡°The advantages of TD-SCDMA standalone
network solution¡±, delegates came to an agreement that from
technical aspect TD-SCDMA has the capability to realize full
3G network. How to implement this depends on 3G license release
and service requirements. Currently government and operators
steer this console mainly. Ms.Fu Jun, Vice Secretary-general
of TD-SCDMA Forum expressed Forum will organize more activities
or meeting focusing on this issue recently. At the same time,
in the 26th ~27th April¡¯s ¡°2005 TD-SCDMA Summit¡± this issue
has been listed as important topic.
